House Sacramento has advocated for key housing projects to support affordable housing expansion. From transit-oriented projects to infill development, we show up to support strategic affordable housing proposals in a variety of ways — we want to be there to say “yes,” louder than those that say “maybe not this time.”

Below, you’ll find some projects that we care about right now. If you know of a project that needs a voice of support, write to us via our contact us link and we’ll show up for it.

880 Arden Way

We supported this project, which will provide 128 affordable family housing units in North Sacramento, an area badly lacking in affordable housing and ripe for infill development, with various industrial parcels left undeveloped. More affordable housing in Sacramento means fewer of our neighbors without a place to live, thereby working to address the housing crisis that our region and state face. At four stories with minimal setback from Arden Way, the project is a welcomed departure from the single-family large-lot character of the nearby neighborhood. This is the direction that the City needs to move in order to meet its housing needs.

In addition to being a great project, it is also situated in an excellent location. It’s near various large commercial and industrial businesses for potential employment. It’s next door to the Royal Oaks SacRT light rail station, which will make it easy for residents to reach downtown and other job centers. This will improve residents’ mobility, reduce VMT, and improve local air quality and carbon emissions related to the development.
